BREAKOUT — CONSUMER TRENDS IN CHINA

The speakers from the “Trends in Seafood Branding in China” and “Trends in Consumer Purchasing Behaviors in China” plenary sessions will gather for a casual, informal discussion on the challenges and opportunities of marketing seafood in China. Audience participation is encouraged.

Fan Xubing is managing director and general manager of Beijing Seabridge Marketing & Consulting Co. Ltd., a Beijing-based food marketing, promotion and consulting firm specializing in agri-products and imported food, with clients including foreign governments, trade associations and foreign agri-business companies. He has 15 years experiences in food marketing, promotion and consulting for seafood, meat and agro-products. Previously, he was China sales manager for Marine Harvest’s Beijing office until 2002 when he joined Beijing Seabridge.

 

 

 

MichaelFabinyiMichael Fabinyi

Dr. Michael Fabinyi is the Society in Science – Branco Weiss Senior Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney. He uses theories and methods from the social sciences to understand the social, political and cultural aspects of seafood trade and governance. He specializes in the implications of Chinese seafood consumption for global fisheries and food security, and the political economy of fisheries in developing countries. He has worked in the Philippines, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. He has held visiting appointments at Peking University and most recently at WorldFish, Malaysia.
