The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) team recently returned from Honduras, where it visited Granjas Marinas San Bernardo (GMSB), the country’s largest integrated shrimp operation.
During the two-day visit, Marcos Moya, BAP facilities development manager, gave a two-day workshop at the GMSB processing plant on Aug. 20 and 21, talking about the advantages of the BAP third-party certification program.
After the visit, GMSB is confirmed its intention to pursue BAP certification for its, farms and processing plant in Honduras, according to Moya. GMSB will have two-star status in the BAP program.
GMSB is a division of Grupo Granjas Marinas S.A. Founded in 1983 and based in Choluteca, Honduras, GMSB is a vertically integrated grower, processer and marketer of Pacific white shrimp.
